This webpage, THEMIS EuroJuristas Law Firm, is serious. It’s not about jokes and fun because we are in mourning for the Spanish people, who have been deprived of due Justice once secured by the Constitution, as well as the many people who lost their lives, honor, assets or freedom as a result of unfair rulings issued by the Courts or other government authorities.
Its relaxed feel is otherwise compensated for by the service it provides:
dependable information and important practical help for those who want to stand against the partial and irresponsible justice system in this country. We encourage you to persist and not to give up for there are still upright, honest judges in Spain.
Talk to us about injustice and those responsible for it. Also about attacks on judicial independence. We need you so that we can keep protesting against our judicial system in national and international forums. We need you in order to keep fighting for the justice this group of lawyers believes in, and the right of the people to enjoy a fair system of law administration.
During the dictatorship, judges were asked to lend persistent and vigorous assistance in maintaining the regime — quoting Minister of Justice Eduardo Aunós at his inauguration speech in the Courts in 1943 — and still today judges are doing the exact same thing. the lack of independence imposed on the judges during the regime was compensated for by a total lack of liability, which allowed that no judge ever be prosecuted for breach of official duty. Thirty years after the end of the regime, nothing has changed.
We have long been overwhelmed by a feeling of helplessness arising from thousands of unfair court and official rulings which were issued with total impunity; likewise, we have suffered and felt frustrated at the persecution of very valuable judges, who have been ostracized for their independence and integrity. The situation today is even worse: we are ashamed of belonging to a society in whose name the Judicial Power has prosecuted so many innocent citizens and we can no longer accept a justice system that the sovereign people do not stand for.
